This gigantic fiesta fills Madrid with colour and exuberance in support of rights for the LGBT community (lesbians, gays, transsexuals and bisexuals). It includes concerts and music in the street, the pavement cafés are packed with people, and there are numerous cultural events and a spectacular parade through the centre of Madrid. This macro-parade takes place on Saturday afternoon and goes along the Paseo del Prado, across the Plaza de Cibeles square and up to the famous Puerta de Alcalá arch. Thousands of people take part in the parade, in an atmosphere of exuberant high spirits and accompanied by music and slogans calling for rights and visibility for the LGBT community. The concerts and street music are focused mainly around the Chueca neighbourhood, an area in Madrid's that is well-known for its tolerant and easy-going atmosphere. The activities continue all night long in numerous venues throughout this part of the city.
