Easter Week in Crevillent
From Apr 9, 2017 to Apr 16, 2017
Every year the town of Crevillent in Alicante recreates the passion and death of Jesus Christ during Easter Week. This popular celebration combines religious devotion, the recollection on Jesus's death and the music and art of the processions (solemn parades accompanied by sculptures of religious images). These happen throughout the week. The most emotional moment of Easter Week in Crevillent is the early hours of Good Friday. Thousands of people come together at dawn to witness the so-called ‘Abrazo de la Morquera'. This is when the figures of Our Holy Father Jesus Christ and Our Lady of Pain meet. Another important moment takes place in the afternoon on Good Friday with the procession of the Death of Jesus Christ. The complete silence of the parade is broken by choir music.
