This festivity celebrates the typical customs and traditions related to the vegetable garden. It is held in Murcia on the first Tuesday after Easter and forms part of the Spring Festivities. The day begins in front of the cathedral with a floral offering to the Virgen de la Fuensanta, the city's patron. In the afternoon, there is a colourful parade of carriages, carts pulled by oxen, which are traditionally associated with Murcia's agriculture, and people in regional dress. The “huertanos” (vegetable gardeners), participants in the parade, throw garden produce into the crowds. There are also “barracas” where you can try the local gastronomy. The “barraca” was a typical hut used by vegetable growers in Murcia.
