Easter week in Medina del Campo
From Apr 9, 2017 to Apr 16, 2017
Medina del Campo
Medina del Campo in Valladolid commemorates the passion and death of Jesus Christ during Easter Week. It is known for the silence and quiet contemplation of its processions (solemn corteges that accompany the religious images), and has been held since the 15th century. Its processions are the oldest in Spain, Throughout the week there are 14 processions, displaying some of the finest images of Renaissance religious sculpture in Spain. In total more than 3,000 penitents or 'cofrades' (members of the religious associations known as 'cofradías') take part.
