Great Mosque of Cordoba

Description

Located in the historic centre of the city, it is one of the most beautiful examples of Muslim art in Spain. Construction began in 785. Its interior takes you to another age and you will feel immersed in the world of the Thousand and One Nights. Large doors, domes, mosaics, tiles and rooms with a surprising decoration. You should visit the prayer room made up of a forest of 800 columns and nearly 400 twin-coloured horseshoe arches. A cathedral has been constructed right in the centre of the mosque. Of note is its main altarpiece, the Baroque altarpiece and the mahogany choir stalls. Access to the Mosque is through a beautiful garden with fountains and trees known as the Orange Tree Courtyard. The mixture of architectural styles is due to the nine centuries of constructions and reforms.
