Royal Palace in Aranjuez

Description

One of the most distinctive features of the Royal Palace in Aranjuez is its red and white façade. It was built on the orders of King Philip II, who entrusted the work to the architects responsible for the monastery at El Escorial, Juan Bautista de Toledo and Juan Herrera. Don't leave without strolling around the Island Garden, decorated with ancient Italian fountains and various squares lined with hedges. On the interior there are numerous rooms including the Queen's Room, the Throne Room, the Queen's Oratory, and the Ballroom separating the rooms of the king and queen. And you'll marvel at the Porcelain Room with its porcelain-covered walls, and the Hall of Mirrors, the best preserved room in the Palace. On the ground floor is the Museum of Palace Life, with unique and fascinating items from the monarchs' daily life.
