Deltebre

Tarragona

In the southern part of the province of Tarragona stands Deltebre, the point of departure for seeing one of the most important wetlands in Spain: the Ebro Delta Nature Reserve.

Deltebre falls within the region of Baix Ebre, on the very mouth of the river Ebro. The town is a good starting point for visiting the Ebro Delta Nature Reserve and obtaining all kinds of information about the area. Considered to be one of the most important wetlands on the Mediterranean, the park is formed by a series of channels, lagoons and patches of sandy ground which attract a great many migratory birds. Several companies run river cruises which tour the course of the river until it flows into the sea. The prawns from Sant Carles de la Rápita and the baby eels from the Ebro Delta are some of the coastal products which the local cuisine offers us. Nor can we forget the rice grown in the delta, which has its own Designation of Origin guarantee.
