Mojácar, Almería (Andalusia)

Mojácar

Almería

It is one of the most charming villages on the Levantine coast of Almería. Its popular architecture of white houses, its beaches and its landscape are its finest tourist attraction.

Mojácar stretches over a hill at the foot of the Sierra Cabrera mountain range. With its Moorish influence, the town centre has preserved its peculiar structure of tiered terraces, hidden corners and narrow streets. Its artistic heritage includes the Renaissance-style Church of Santa María, from the 16th and 19th centuries; the Mojácar Castle, from the 15th century; and the city gate and the fortified tower, the only remains of the old city wall. At the foot of the town lie over five kilometres of magnificent beaches.
