A perfect holiday destination at any time of the year, this is a place with cliffs, coves and long stretches of sand dotted with fishing villages like Águilas, and the endless beaches of San Pedro del Pinatar. La Manga del Mar Menor is a narrow 'sleeve' of land 24 kilometres long bordering the Mar Menor and the Mediterranean, and is one of its best-known spots. In addition to sunbathing on the beach, you can also visit mountain landscapes and nature spaces such as the sandy stones on the beach of Bolnuevo and the Cabo Cope and Salinas de San Pedro regional parks. What can you do? It crystal-clear sea and blue waters are the ideal setting for enjoying all kinds of watersports: kayaking, sailing, scuba-diving, rowing… or you can rent equipment and take a course at the Mar Menor marina. For a more cultural visit, we recommend exploring Cartagena with its Roman ruins, and its Underwater Archaeology Museum. You can also choose to relax in one of its famous spas and try a therapeutic mud treatment. Don't miss some of its best-known festivities such as the Carnival in Águilas, Easter Week in Cartagena, and the Burial of the Sardine that takes place as part of the Spring Festivities in Murcia.
