What to visit The city has evolved around the cathedral, one of the most important religious buildings in Soria. It is in the Gothic style, although its interior contains evidence of its Romanesque origins. It houses an important collection of codices, including the Commentary on the Apocalypse by Beato de Liébana. Another important monument is the Episcopal Palace. The street known as Calle Mayor contains some of the city's most typical images, with typical houses supported on arcades with stone columns. The Plaza Mayor square is the site of the Town Hall and the San Agustín hospital. The defensive wall was built in the 15th century and has been conserved in excellent condition –the San Miguel gateway is a fine example. On the outskirts you'll find a bridge dating from Roman times and the old Osma castle. Gastronomy The most famous dishes usually feature pork as an ingredient. In fact on weekends in February and March there are usually gastronomic events related to the products of traditional ritual pig slaughter, the perfect opportunity to sample cured meats and pork dishes. Nature If you want to go on a spectacular nature route, we recommend the Cañón del Río Lobos nature reserve. You'll find numerous grottoes and have the chance to see eagles and vultures.
