What to see A good place to start is Plaza Consistorial square. This is where the ‘chupinazo' rocket is launched at the start of the San Fermín festival. You will be able to visit the Town Hall and the neighbouring Church of San Saturnino and the Cámara de Comptos (Inland Revenue building). Another suggestion is the area around Plaza del Castillo square. Then you can head to Santa María la Real Cathedral. Did you know that the monarchs used to swear their oath here? For great views over the city, head to Paseo de la Ronda Barbazana boulevard. We recommend spending another day on the over four kilometres of fortifications in Pamplona. There is a visitor centre at the Fort of San Bartolomé. You'll also surely want to discover ‘Green Pamplona' at its parks such as the Arga river park, which offers canoeing trips. Festivities San Fermín is Pamplona's hallmark festival (the most important day is 7th July). One of the best moments is the bull pen (a tradition where participants run in front of the bulls) around the historic centre. Gastronomy In any of Pamplona's restaurants you can try traditional dishes such as asparagus, piquillo peppers and lamb with tomatoes and peppers. Try out the streets of Estafeta, San Nicolás and San Gregorio for tapas.
