The streets of Sigüenza are home to many civic and religious buildings, but we especially recommend visiting the castle, the cathedral and Plaza Mayor. The castle is now a Parador hotel and houses a good part of the old defensive wall. The cathedral has a fortress-like appearance and inside you can see the tomb of San Martín Vázquez de Arce, known as the Young Knight of Sigüenza. You can also see the impressive sacristy known as La Sacristía de las Cabezas as well as important works of art, including a portrayal of the Assumption by El Greco. In Plaza Mayor and Plaza del Mercado, you'll find Casa de los Canónigos House, the City Hall and Toril Gate. We also recommend visiting other monumental buildings such as San Vicente church, the Seminary, Casa del Doncel House, the church of Las Ursulinas and Infantes college. Nature The pine forest known as El Pinar de Sigüenza is a great place for a walk or for enjoying various activities in its recreation area. Gastronomy The local dishes include roast lamb and roast kid, “migas” (fried breadcrumbs) with chorizo sausage, “torreznos” (similar to bacon) and fried eggs, and “castellana” soup.
