What to see A stroll around Toledo old town, a World Heritage Site, makes you feel like you're in an open-air museum. The walled maze-like streets are home to several gates: Bisagra, Alfonso VI and Sol. They lead to different areas in the city, such as the Plaza de Zocodover square, one of the city's liveliest spots. You will come across several synagogues, mosques and churches in the narrow streets of Toledo, such as the Mosque of Cristo de la Luz, the churches of San Sebastián and Santa Eulalia, and the Church of Santo Tomé. Don't miss the famous El Greco painting known as ‘The Burial of the Count of Orgaz' in the latter. Indeed, El Greco Home Museum is one of the most important museums in Toledo housing some of the painter's best works. Standout monuments include the Cathedral, the Cathedral Museum with works by Goya, El Greco and Van Dyck, the Bridge of San Martín and the citadel, which overlooks the entire city and houses one of the largest public libraries in Spain. Festivities In accordance with tradition, every year the procession of Santísimo Corpus Christi fills the streets of Toledo with music and song. In addition, 2014 marks the fourth centenary of the death of this painter and Toledo is commemorating it with several exhibitions.
