Tours and fun activities in wineries

There are three wine-making areas with Designation of Origin very close to Barcelona, all offering winery tours, tastings, and fun, unusual activities.Alella Designation of Origin: its vineyards are just 25 kilometres from Barcelona, and its wines are 100% organic. Many of its wineries can be visited and offer activities as enjoyable as doing yoga among the vineyards, or tours on horseback or electric bicycle.Pla de Bages Designation of Origin: this area is about 45 minutes from Barcelona. Its wines are usually fruity, with a fresh bouquet, thanks to the Picapoll grape variety - this is the only part of Spain that grows it.You can tour the vineyards in a 4x4, on mountain bike or on horseback; you can also enjoy the benefits of wine therapy treatments, have an outdoor lunch among the vines, or try being a wine grower for a day.

Vineyards, Alto Penedes (Catalonia)

Penedés Designation of Origin: between Barcelona and Tarragona, just 40 minutes away is the DO Penedès, with more than 70 wineries certified by the Spanish Wine Routes, offering visits and great wine tourism experiences to enjoy at any time of the year. Experiences at wineries, fantastic culinary offers, and the calm and tranquility of sleeping in a natural environment. Tasting their wines and cavas in winery wine bars, touring in beach buggies or on e-bikes, or waking up in a rustic stone cabin are some of the many proposals that await you in this area bathed by the Mediterranean and sheltered by the Montserrat mountain range. In these Wine Cities you can discover the VINSEUM Museum of the Wine Cultures of Catalonia, and the CAVA CENTER in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. And if you're a history lover, the Iberian archaeological site of the Font de la Canya hill shows the origins of the Penedés vine.
