Galicia

Long deserted beaches, high cliffs, stunning nature and constructions frozen in time shape the landscape of Galicia. A region with breath-taking views, that definitely deserve to be photographed and framed as authentic works of art. We are going to tell you about some of the most beautiful landscapes in Galicia, those that really mustn’t be missed.

Monte de Santa Tecla, Pontevedra

Located in the south of the region, this is a must see if you’re in the area. From this high point you can see the estuary of the river Miño and some of the mountains in both Galicia and Portugal. Here you’ll also find the remains of the Castro de Santa Trega, the ruins of an ancient 4th century city that had a population of between three and five thousand inhabitants. And you can visit the little chapel of Santa Trega too. From the hillside you can admire the scenery, the archaeological remains and religious constructions that together create a truly unique landscape.

In Galicia there are also other, very different landscapes for you to enjoy: fine white sands and crystal clear emerald waters. Above all in these beautiful islands that form part of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park. Here you can relax on beaches that are the stuff of dreams listening to the sound of the sea, beaches like Rodas, the largest beach in the Islas Cíes that’s considered to be one of the best in the world, in part thanks to its setting. Do remember that the capacity of the islands is limited, so you’ll need to book your visit in advance.

La Praia das Catedrais, Lugo

Although its real name is Aguas Santas Beach, it’s known as Praia das Catedrais (Cathedrals beach) because of the impressive rock formations that erosion by the sea has left in the rocks and cliffs.  In the high season you’ll need to book in order to go onto the sands as this is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the region, which is no surprise at all given the stunning views it offers.

La Fervenza do Ézaro, A Coruña

In the heart of the Costa da Morte, there’s a beautiful spot where you’ll find the only waterfall in Spain that flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Here the Ézaro river plunges down forming an impressive waterfall and creating a stunning vista that you can admire up close. At certain times in the summer it’s even illuminated, so you can enjoy this natural spectacle at night too. On these summer nights under the reds and blues of the coloured lights it becomes a place of mystery and magic that will stay forever in your memory.
