Cabañeros National Park

Description

The curious name of the park comes from the huts ('cabañas') of the shepherds who used to live here. An easy way to explore it is by driving along the two roads that run through it. You'll see forests of holm oak and cork trees, and areas of rockrose and scrub. Inside the park you'll find particularly beautiful places like the 'Chorro de Los Navalucillos' waterfall, the banks of the Estena river and the observation points at the southern boundary of the park and beside the Torre de Abraham reservoir. What animals can you find there? Cabañeros is home to the second largest colony of black vultures in the world. What's more it's quite easy to spot other animals such as stags and wild boar. What's on offer in the park? The Visitor Centres will provide information on the 4x4 routes and hiking trails available. If you're travelling with children, there's a special 4x4 excursion designed for families.
