Teide National Park

Description

Are you interested in visiting the Teide National Park? An excellent choice. This space on the island of Tenerife is home to the highest mountain in Spain: the Teide, with a height of 3,718 metres. And best all, you can reach the summit by cable car (weather conditions permitting). But before, you'll be treated to a spectacular volcanic landscape in the only sub-tropical high-mountain area in Europe. What species can you find there? This park is outstanding particularly for its flora, as it is home to 212 plant species. Its most highly-prized treasure? The delicate El Teide violet, one of the plants that blooms at the highest altitude in Europe. You can see some of these species in the park's Botanical Garden. What's on offer in the park? There are several footpaths for exploring the park. One of them, the 'Telesforo Bravo', is the only one that will take you to the summit on foot. In order to walk it you need to ask for a special permit in advance. If you're interested in the guided visits service you will also need to reserve ahead of time.
