Tavera Hospital (San Juan Bautista Hospital)

It occupies the former Cardinal Tavera Hospital building, which dates from the 16th century.

The building is notable for its Renaissance façade. The marble tomb of Cardinal Tavera, which was created by Alonso Berruguete, can now be found inside. The museum’s display includes paintings by El Greco and other masters such as Rivera, Berruguete, Tintoretto, and Titian. There are also tapestries, as well as furniture and other luxury items. Its famous pharmacy contains an important collection of earthenware containers and jars from Talavera and Puente del Arzobispo.
