Special summer nights in Spain

none

Here are some ideas for unusual nights in Spain this summer, when you want to spend time outdoors.

  • Music and dance festival in Granada

    Noches de Embrujo ('Enchanted Nights')

These are nights where you can enjoy flamenco shows in unique settings. They can be experienced especially in Andalusia over the summer. For example, the Music and Dance Festival of Granada takes place in July in the Alhambra, Seville holds shows in the gardens of the Real Alcázar Palace, and at the Cordoba Guitar Festival, many of the concerts are held in the bullring and on the city's streets.

  • Roman theatre, Mérida

    Nights in the Roman Empire

Mérida is the place to go, as its International Classical Theatre Festival takes place between July and August. The main stage is the city's Roman theatre, which is over 2000 years old. In addition, you can visit temples and monuments that have been conserved since Mérida's time of splendour during the Roman era.

  • Cueva de los jameos, Canary Islands

    Musical nights in a cave

These take place at Cova d'en Xoroi, on the island of Menorca, and Los Jameos del Agua on the island of Lanzarote. Nights at Cova d'en Xoroi are legendary, especially during summer when you can also enjoy live music in this wonderful setting with sea views. Meanwhile, Los Jameos is a lava tube which was transformed into a charming space by the artist César Manrique, blending architecture and nature. Concerts are also held there.

  • Astrotourism in Trevejo, Sierra de Gata

    Nights under the stars

Did you know that Spain is renowned for its clear skies which are perfect for stargazing? The best-known dark sky areas are in Andalusia, Aragon, the Canary Islands, Castilla y León, Catalonia, Extremadura, La Rioja and Galicia. You can join nature expeditions to see the stars, visit observatories or spend the night in accommodation especially designed to enjoy the night sky.

  • Carlos V Palace, Patio of the Alhambra

    Cultural nights under the moon

These are guided night-time tours of iconic sites and cities. Perhaps Granada's Alhambra and the Great Mosque of Cordoba are the most remarkable because they allow you to visit the site in a much calmer way, with fewer people than during the day. Nevertheless, there are guided night-time tours in almost all of Spain's tourist cities during the summer. In some cases, there are also dramatised tours.
