What to see It's a good idea to spend some time lingering in the Plaza Mayor square in Chinchón and taking some photos of its wooden balconies and galleries, the different colours… This square is reputed to be among the loveliest in Spain. Then you can visit the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, whose interior contains a painting by Goya. Other interesting buildings include the Lope de Vega theatre, the Clock Tower, the remains of the castle of Los Condes and the Chinchón visitor centre. We recommend asking at the municipal tourist office about the option of taking guided tours and going on dramatised routes. Gastronomy Chinchón has numerous traditional restaurants known as 'mesones', where you can sample lamb, suckling pig or kid roasted in a wood-burning oven. And if you want to take away a souvenir, you can buy a typical bottle of aniseed liqueur in any of its specialised establishments. Nature Just a few kilometres away you'll find the start of a 20-kilometre route leading to the Laguna de San Juan animal sanctuary.
