Santiago de Compostela Cathedral

Description

It is the end of the journey for the pilgrims who do the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James). Once inside, you can follow the ritual that they perform. Bang your head against the statue of Matthew three times, pass by James the Apostle's crypt, hug his statue at the Main Altar and attend the Pilgrims' Mass at noon. It is one of the most important works of Romanesque art in Spain, although several styles are combined in it due to several extensions: Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, Plateresque and Neo-classical. In fact, its Obradoiro façade is one of the finest examples of Spanish Baroque. If you get the chance, don't miss its Botafumeiro. A huge censer that swings from the ceiling of the cathedral. Enter the cathedral through the La Gloria Doorway or through the Holy Door if it is a Holy Year in Compostela.
