Alcázar fortress in Segovia

A trench with a drawbridge enables access to the Segovia Alcázar fortress. The edifice has a number of secret passageways that lead to the river and connect several of the city's palaces. You get to the top of the tower, with its unique views, by a steep 152-step stairway. Once inside, you will be able to see the different rooms arranged around the bailey and clock tower. The rooms include the Throne Room, the Monarchs' Room and the Treasure Room. The Weapons Room houses a complete collection of weapons: canons, swords, crossbows, shields… The rooms saw Alfonso X ‘The Wise' rest there, Isabella the Catholic emerge to be crowned and, in the chapel, Phillip II and Anna of Austria married. In addition it was the fortress of the Castile Monarchs and the Royal College of Artillery.
