Spanish Museum of Abstract Art

It has one of the finest collections of abstract art in Europe, and is located in the famous Hanging Houses built on a rocky ledge overhanging the gorge. The permanent exhibition in the museum comprises the personal collection of the artist Fernando Zóbel, and includes works of Spanish abstract art. These works were donated, and currently belong to the Juan March Foundation. What will you see? Hundreds of paintings and sculptures by some of the most representative artists in the 20th century Spanish abstract movement. Works by renowned artists of the 1950s, 60s, 80s and 90s such as Luis Feito, Jorge Oteiza, Antonio Saura and Eduardo Chillida among others. It stages temporary exhibitions dedicated to abstract creators and all the main trends in modern art. Don't miss Some features remaining from the original Hanging Houses, such as their Isabelline Gothic arch.
