Carmen Thyssen Museum in Malaga

Located in the Villalón Palace, the interior contains an exhibition of the private collection of Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza: over 200 works that survey 19th-century Spanish painting genres, in addition to one of the most comprehensive exhibitions of Andalusian painting anywhere in Spain. What will you see? The museum is divided into four major itineraries: paintings by old masters from the 13th to 17th centuries, of which the highlight is the work 'Saint Marina' by Zurbarán; a section on romantic landscapes and the 'Costumbrista' genre (works by Genaro Pérez Villaamil and the Domínguez Bécquer brothers); 'Preciosista' painting and naturalistic landscapes (works by Marià Fortuny); and Spanish fin-de-siècle art (artists like Joaquín Sorolla and Ignacio Zuloaga). It also offers temporary exhibitions and cultural and educational activities. Don't miss The Garum Basins, Roman remains found below ground.
