Seville Museum of Fine Arts

Description

Created as a 'painting museum', it contains a wide variety of works ranging from the Gothic through to the 20th century. Its collection has gradually grown thanks to confiscated ecclesiastical assets, private donations and public acquisitions. Built on the site of the former convent of La Merced Calzada, the structure is arranged around three courtyards. What will you see? The museum offers a journey through the history of Sevillian painting, with particular emphasis on the 17th-century. It also has several collections of painting, sculpture, ceramics, precious metalwork and furnishings. You'll be able to see works by painters such as El Greco, Pacheco, Velázquez and Alonso Cano. Don't miss The space dedicated to the work of Murillo, and Zurbarán's religious paintings.
