Valencia Institute of Modern Art (IVAM)

The Valencian Institute of Modern Art is a gateway to 20th-century avant-garde art. It explores all expressions of contemporary art ranging from photography to pop-art, abstract, sculpture and painting through to installations. The permanent collection is on display in the Centre Julio González building, together with other temporary exhibitions featuring some of the finest internationally-renowned modern art. What will you see? Over 10,600 works highlighting the most representative trends in modern art, with particular emphasis on the works of Julio González and Ignacio Pinazo. Julio González is considered to be the father of cast iron sculpture. The IVAM also stages lectures, courses, workshops and publishes catalogues. Don't miss Its Sala de la Muralla room in the basement of the building, where you can see a large section of Valencia's old medieval wall.
