Marimurtra Botanical Garden

Description

In this large botanical garden you'll find almost 3,000 typical species of Mediterranean and subtropical flowers, in addition to plants common to the Catalonia, and others from drier regions of South Africa and Central America. What will you see? Three gardens stocked with plants, and various facilities used for research, including greenhouses, nurseries, a laboratory and a library. The subtropical garden imitates a sub-desert landscape, and has a tropical area with creepers and tropical palm trees. The temperate garden contains collections of cedars and firs more than 60 years old, as well as palm trees from all the regions of the world. The Mediterranean garden has the typical vegetation of areas with this type of climate, and some unusual features such as the Linnaeus Temple and the Plaza de Goethe square. Outside the area open to visitors is a Mediterranean forest with numerous cork oak trees.
