Piedra Monastery

A visit to the Piedra Monastery is a chance to take some time out in the heart of nature surrounded by lush vegetation and numerous waterfalls. The perfect place for relaxing, soothed by the sound of water. You'll be amazed to see so many flowers and plants in one of the driest regions of Aragon. What will you see? The spectacular waterfall known as the Cola de Caballo ('Horse's Tail') with a drop of 50 metres, beyond which is concealed a grotto. What's more in this nature reserve you'll find other waterfalls along the course of the Piedra river with names like the Cascada Caprichosa, Cascada Iris, the Lago de los Patos and the Vergel. This is an opportunity to walk among tall trees and dense riverbank forests. During your visit, make a point of seeing the cloister, the chapter room and the monastery kitchens, the place where the first chocolate in Europe was made. Its old cellars now house the wine museum.
