What to see Arona has over 15 kilometres of beaches where you can enjoy the island's year-round spring temperatures. Two of the most highly recommended spots are Las Galletas and the Costa del Silencio (the 'silent coast'). The first still conserves its fishing tradition in its port and its fish market. The second is a fine example of a volcanic coastline where you'll find secluded coves that are perfect for swimming. The area is highly recommended for scuba diving and water sports. There are numerous residential estates and recreational attractions all along the coast. We also suggest taking a stroll through the streets to see the popular architecture and the many whitewashed houses. Visitors should also make a point of visiting the shrine of San Antonio Abad, considered the origin of Arona after it separated from the neighbouring town of Vilaflor. Excursions The surrounding area is particularly attractive and set amid volcanic mountains. The Teide National Park is the best-known area. Other interesting excursions include a trip to the mountains of Guaza and Montaña Amarilla, and the San Lorenzo valley.
