Nature and active tourism The surrounding area, nestled between towering mountains and the Sella and Piloña rivers, makes Arriondas a perfect destination for enjoying Mother Nature at her very best. It's a veritable paradise for lovers of hiking and cycling. One of the most spectacular routes takes you to a viewpoint known as Mirador del Fitu, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Picos de Europa National Park with the Cantabrian Sea as a backdrop. We also recommend visiting some of the area's many prehistoric sites. For instance, the cave known as Cueva de Taragaño. Freshwater fishing, hunting and kayaking are just a few of the activities you can enjoy in the stunning countryside around Arriondas. The town also has impressive churches, mills and manor houses dating back hundreds of years. Festivities The town's most important event is The International Descent of the Sella River. Held every year on the first Saturday in August, this canoe-fest coincides with the local fiestas, attracting large crowds for a fun day on the banks of the Sella River.
