What to see In the late 19th century a series of modernist and colonial-style beach villas sprang up in the beach area in Benicàssim, of which the most notable example is Villa Pilar. A good option is to take the route around these villas and along the seafront promenade to the San Vicente tower. Another monument that's well worth a visit is the parish church of Santo Tomás de Villanueva. Active tourism You can take a dip on any of its white sandy beaches such as the Torreón beach, you can go scuba-diving, windsurfing, kitesurfing or sailing with one of the boats from the Sailing School. In the surroundings of Benicàssim you'll find nature areas like the Las Palmas desert and the Sierra de Santa Águeda. Ask for information about excursions on foot and by bike. FIB The Benicàssim International Festival takes place in July, when thousands of festival-goers flock to enjoy alternative pop-rock and electronic music performed on several different stages.
