What to see There is a marked contrast between the old quarter of the city and the more modern Benidorm. The first stands on a promontory and contains a maze of alleyways and picturesque corners for strolling. Make a point of looking out from the Balcón del Mediterráneo observation point –you be rewarded with spectacular views of the sea. Near the old quarter you can go to Mal Pas beach, set in a peaceful cove with fine sand. At the edges of the old quarter you'll find broad avenues and shopping streets, and the two main beaches, the Levante and Poniente. They have broad seafront promenades with numerous leisure attractions. Benidorm is home to one of the largest theme parks in Spain: Terra Mítica, revolving around two of history's greatest empires. Gastronomy Don't miss the various rice dishes such as paella or 'arroz a banda'. The fish is also excellent, and while already delicious on their own, they're even better enjoyed overlooking the sea. Nightlife Benidorm has over 150 pubs and clubs. Some of the best known areas for going out at night are around the streets of Esperanto, Mallorca and Lepanto (near the Levante beach), and there are macro clubs on the outskirts.
