What to see One of the most interesting aspects of the city is its wide variety of buildings from different periods and different styles... from the remains of the old castle and tower of Els Alçaments, to the squares of the Plaza Mayor, La Pescadería and Santa Clara, to more modern buildings like the Conference Centre. El Grao de Castellón. Beaches and nature This is the maritime district of Castellón de la Plana, around four kilometres from the centre. Attractions here include the lively Plaza del Mar and the Royal Yacht Club. If you'd like to take a boat cruise, you'll find boats here to take you to the Columbretes Islands, a fascinating place for scuba diving. Next to El Grao is the area known as the Pinar de Castellón de la Plana, with attractions for children, a picnic area, golf course, planetarium, and much more And of course the beach area. Over eight kilometres that are ideal for swimming. Gastronomy If you want to discover the cuisine of Castellón, the best idea is to try its fish, like 'dorada' (gilthead sea bream), tuna or sea bass –lightly fried, skin-side down, in their own juice, or baked in salt.
