Área de Allariz Biosphere Reserve

It boasts one of the most beautiful river walks in all of Galicia. So if you happen to be in or around Allariz, be sure to go along and have your photo taken on its charming medieval bridge. If you walk along this path and head down river, you'll come to O Briñal: enjoy the magical woodland. And if you head up river, you'll come to the O Rexo ‘eco-space'. Here, the trees and stones have been painted in a myriad of colours by artist Agustín Ibarrola. What animals can you find there? The most significant species include birds of prey, wolves, otters and Iberian amphibians. What's on offer in the Biosphere Reserve? It's a great place to get to know the customs of the local people. Indeed, you can visit an ethnographic reserve with a mill that is open to the public and museums dedicated to linen and leather. And, of course, you can stroll around the streets of Allariz and see its archaeological sites, palaces and stately houses.
