San Benito Monastery in Alcántara

  This is the former headquarters of the Alcántara Military Order. It was built in the 16th century, with a mix of Gothic, Renaissance and Plateresque styles. The cloister has two storeys in Gothic style. Highlights inside are the Main Chapel and the Bravo de Jerez Chapel. At present, it is the headquarters of the San Benito de Alcántara Foundation and a meeting place for many activities, including study and research.
