Niemeyer Centre

This great cultural centre is the first and only work by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in Spain.

It is located on the Aviles estuary, five minutes from the town's historic centre on foot. Its broad cultural programme of international activities includes exhibitions, plays, dances, films, concerts, conferences and gastronomic activities. It is a centre with different architectural spaces notable for their design and functionality: the auditorium, with a stage that opens out towards the square in the centre; the dome, used for exhibitions; the tower-viewing point, 20 metres high, with a restaurant overlooking the whole city; and the multi-purpose building, with a cinema, meeting and conference rooms, and the visitor reception centre.
