Palacio de las Dueñas (Seville)

An example of the characteristic noble architecture of Seville. This palace boasts over 1,400 artistic pieces and reveals what was the place of residence of the famous Spanish writer Antonio Machado during the early years of his life.

“My childhood is memories of a courtyard in Seville, and a bright orchard with lemons turning ripe...” That is how Antonio Machado describes this palace in one of his most popular works: 'Fields of Castile'. The visit to the Palace lasts for around one hour and includes admission to this Lemon Tree Courtyard. It also includes admission to the chapel, (which houses significant works such as a piece by Neri di Bicci, from the 15th century) to a collection of posters from the Seville Easter Week Fair from more than one hundred years ago, and to other rooms and courtyards where you can find other relevant paintings and sculptures.The Palace is property of the House of Alba, a family with property comprising extensive artistic collections and patronage in Spain.
