Rey Moro Palace gardens

The Casa del Rey Moro has fortunately been opened to the public after being closed for more than thirty years. The gardens and its main attraction, the Mine, have been partially restored. Unfortunately, however, the beautiful palace, fitted out for the Duchess of Parcent around 1910, is still closed. The garden is divided into three terraces with different atmospheres: the first surrounds the house and has a typically Andalusian feel, with tiled benches, a fountain/pond and tiled flooring. A double staircase joins this level with the one immediately below. This is set around a main axis with a fountain in white tiles at the head. A channel flows out of this and runs all the way along the terrace. It is rectangular, with a simple pergola joined to one of the side walls. Here you can also see the characteristic Forestier rose beds. Access to the third level is via another double staircase, flanked by a pond. Gravel paths between squares of trimmed hedge lead to the mouth of an old well at the top of an area with stunning views.
