Cerralbo Museum

Madrid

A journey into the 19th century aristocracy

This museum reflects the tastes of the period through a wide range of works of art.

The house-museum was created by the Marquis of Cerralbo and visitors can go back in time to see how an aristocratic family lived at the end of the 19th/beginning of the 20th centuries. The palace has works of art and everyday objects set in their original rooms, collected by this intellectual who was passionate about the arts and humanities. Special mention should be made of paintings by different European artists dating from the 16th-19th centuries, sculptures, drawings, prints, coins, medals, weapons and armour, watches, lamps, jewels, ceramics, furniture, carpets...
